FUSION OF TRADITION AND INNOVATION

This project explores the exciting potential of merging traditional ceramics with cutting-edge digital techniques specifically, transforming 3D printed forms into clay to expand the horizons of contemporary design. By blending the handmade with the technological, this collection aims to challenge and redefine what is possible within ceramic art.
The collection highlights the relationship between handcrafted ceramic objects and digitally generated forms, including striking wall tiles and decorative pieces. These ceramics are crafted from coarse clay, fired at high temperatures to ensure durability and strength. The raw, earthy textures of the material emphasize its natural origins, celebrating the ruggedness and authenticity of traditional ceramics. This approach deliberately showcases the material’s visual and tactile qualitiesits rough surface and organic feel rather than concealing them, creating a dialogue between the material’s innate characteristics and the innovative forms derived from digital processes.

With over 30 years of experience in ceramics, I have come to see vessels not merely as containers but as powerful symbols of life, resilience, and transformation. They embody stories of continuity and change, linking the past with the present. This collection seeks to inspire viewers to reflect on their own capacity for growth and adaptation while maintaining their individuality amidst the ongoing evolution of tradition and innovation.

The overarching theme, “Fusion of Tradition and Innovation,”, encapsulates how ceramics can transcend conventional boundaries. It is a celebration of how age-old techniques such as hand-building, glazing, and firing can be complemented and enhanced by modern digital tools. This approach pushes creative boundaries while remaining anchored in the rich history of ceramic craftsmanship, illustrating that tradition and innovation are not mutually exclusive but interconnected forces that drive artistic progress.
Through this collection, I aim to demonstrate that ceramic art is a living, evolving discipline one that holds space for both the wisdom of the past and the limitless possibilities of the future. It is an invitation for viewers and fellow designers to embrace change, explore new ideas, and reimagine the role of ceramics in contemporary environments.

WALL PIECES AND DEOCRATIVE VESSELS

This collection of artwork explores the seamless interaction between interior space and ceramic design, emphasizing the harmony between functional and decorative elements.

The collection features both compelling wall art and geometric vessels, each designed to enhance and unify interior spaces. It explores how integrating wall decorations with sculptural objects and vessels can forge a deeper connection within a room.

A core focus of this work is the courage required to blend different shapes through patterns, colors, materials, or styles, fostering a sense of boldness and originality. The collection includes hand-shaped ceramic wall tiles as well as decorative vessels, each crafted with attention to detail, texture and artistic intention.

Creating these tiles was a challenging but rewarding journey, marking my first experience working with wall ceramics in this form. It was a process of continuous learning, pushing boundaries, and discovering new creative possibilities.
